Regional left ventricular deformation in primary mitral regurgitation

چکیده
Introduction MVP is a common disorder affecting 2-3% of the general population. MVP patients with severe MR may remain asymptomatic for a number of years; however, LV systolic function may be impaired post-operatively, even among those with normal pre-operative ejection fraction (EF). Myocardial strain is the assessment of myocardial local deformation and may provide a more accurate assessment of LV function.

Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...
متن کاملLeft Ventricular Mechanics in Functional Ischemic Mitral Regurgitation in Acute Inferoposterior Myocardial Infarction
UNLABELLED Ischemic mitral regurgitation (MR) is an established adverse prognostic factor after myocardial infarction (MI). Functional ischemic mitral regurgitation in acute phase of MI remains under-investigated due to its often transient and dynamic nature. We aimed to assess left ventricular (LV) mechanics by speckle-tracking echocardiography in acute inferoposterior MI and ischemic mitral r...
متن کاملLeft atrial function and deformation in chronic primary mitral regurgitation.
AIMS To study global and regional left atrial (LA) mechanics in chronic primary mitral regurgitation (MR) with echocardiography. METHODS AND RESULTS LA volumes during reservoir, conduit, and contractile phases were measured in 27 MR patients and 25 controls. LA ejection fraction (EF) and ejection force were calculated. Reservoir (SR-R), conduit (SR-C), and contractile phase (SR-A) strain rate...
متن کاملPrediction of postoperative left ventricular systolic function in patients with chronic mitral regurgitation undergoing valve surgery--the role of deformation imaging.
OBJECTIVE Preoperative left ventricular systolic function is an important prognostic factor in patients undergoing mitral valve surgery. Preoperative myocardial deformation may be impaired without reduction in conventional indices such as ejection fraction (EF). Strain rate (SR) imaging is very sensitive in detecting regional systolic abnormalities and might allow diagnosis of subclinical chang...
متن کاملExercise-induced changes in mitral regurgitation in patients with prior myocardial infarction and left ventricular dysfunction: relation to mitral deformation and left ventricular function and shape.
AIMS The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between exercise-induced changes in mitral regurgitation (MR) and echocardiographic characteristics of mitral deformation, global left ventricular (LV) function and shape at rest and after exercise. METHODS AND RESULTS Forty consecutive patients with ischaemic MR due to prior myocardial infarction (MI), ejection fraction <45% in sinus ...
